Greenways Irrigation Pipeline

THE PROJECT

Greenways Irrigation trust is a community irrigation group made up of commercial farmers and domestic residents. The trust was awarded a sum of government funding to upgrade the current river pumping station and associated pipeline that draws water from the Murray, and services local farmlands and residents. For the farmers in particular, this upgrade will mean their crops will deliver higher yields, or they can switch to higher value crops such as almonds and citrus.

THE SOLUTION

Viadux SA worked with the contractor, Exact Contracting, to specify Flowtite Glass Reinforced Polymer (GRP) for this unique application. Flowtite was chosen for its outstanding environmental sustainability credentials, and the fact that it is locally produced in Lonsdale, SA.

GRP was chosen over alternative products such as PVC, polyethelene, Ductile & Mild Steel. GRP was selected for its ability to be supplied in 13m lengths with a rubber ring jointing method. This effectively reduced freight costs and installation times compared to materials of shorter lengths, or those that would require welding.

Viadux sourced custom 13m lengths so the customer could xxxx

THE RESULT

Sourcing locally produced product delivered efficiencies in delivery lead times, installation times and costs for the customer. Viadux were able to deliver direct to site, when the customer needed it. GRP has minimal environmental impact due to its manufacturing process. GRP’s lightweight, larger pipe length and jointing method ensures efficient installation, resulting in low carbon footprint.

These outcomes were achieved through collaborative planning and execution between the trust, Exact, and Viadux.
